Hall China Company first began production bowl in 1903 in East Liverpool, Ohio making utilitarian wares like jugs, bedpans, and mugs. In 1937, the Hall China Company made the Cream-colored mixing bowl with the Autumn Leaf pattern and 22k gold rim mixing bowl. Later that year, during Christmas, Hall China Co. produced a matching 2-quart mixing bowl and 1-quart mixing bowl to create a three bowl mixing set. Autumn Leaf kitchenware often made its way into American homes through "The Jewel Man," a door-to-door salesperson employed by the Jewel Tea Company in Chicago. This is where the collector's nickname "Jewel Tea" originated. New items were added to the collection until 1980, and the Autumn Leaf pattern has many fans today. The word "HALL'S" within a circle was the hallmark for most items. However, the company made, except for the kitchenware and dinnerware. The Hall China Company marked these Autumn Leaf kitchenware with a "HALL'S SUPERIOR” over a circle and “Quality Kitchenware" under the circle and in the circle was “TESTED AND APPROVED By Mary Dunbar JEWEL HOMEMARKERS INSTITUTE" inside the circle, which was printed in gold on the bottom of the bowl. There are some scratches on the inside of the bowl and a lot of the gold trim on the rim has been worn off. Other than that, it is in excellent condition with no cracks, chips, dents, necks, scratches, repairs, fleabites, stains, or wears-marks.
