The making of the artist’s book, TABLOID! became a process of looking at my response to news about corporate and technological changes in communication systems and controls to its access. I collected headlines and articles that reflected an alarm I felt about these changes, mostly from the New York Times, from January-July 2018. Carving linoleum cuts of newspaper articles, hand setting lead and wood type headlines, I then printed each element on the letterpress, slowly filling the eight pages to make a newspaper. Carving the photos and articles in linoleum contrasts the continually updated digital information on our screens. Printing the stories in tabloid format and tone satirizes and reveals our current news environment.
